Landcare – a lot more than trees

Watershed Landcare is actively engaged in the community and brings the latest ideas and information to you in an empowering and supportive way! We explore and encourage discussion on a wide range of topics from environmental sustainability and natural resource management and everything else in-between. We are community-driven which means our members direct our gaze to topics that interest them and are relevant now!

We work to create a resilient region and regenerate our environment so it can thrive into the future and beyond! Landcare’s doors are open to anyone interested in building a healthy landscape and a healthy community.

Have you heard about the importance of biodiversity? A biodiverse region is a resilient region! That’s why we promote practices to support and protect our native flora and fauna including endangered ecological communities, some of which are unique to our area. We host educational talks and develop innovative tools to help local producers align their systems to support sustainability and foster value in their natural assets.

Look out for our upcoming workshops; Wild Encounters – “discovering threatened species in our region” where we’ll be hosting leisurely group walks in scenic locations, accompanied by wildlife experts to find out what threatened species we have the responsibility to protect and how we can encourage and support their survival. Last but not least, we’d like to welcome a fresh face to the Watershed Landcare team! Meet Maddison, she’s our new Landcare coordinator, working together with Claudia. Calling Gulgong home, she has the drive to preserve and improve her local landscape and community. With a background in communications and design, and has recently completed her permaculture design certificate, she’s hit the ground running and has some awesome ingredients to add to the Watershed Landcare secret sauce.

Studying a cutting-edge degree in Regenerative Agriculture at Southern Cross University, Maddi is learning from

leading industry professionals and will be equipped to bring important knowledge home to inform and improve her work.
