Watershed Women warmly invites you to a day of empowerment and community at the upcoming “Watershed Women Empowering Rural Women” event, taking place in picturesque Mudgee on Sunday, September 8th. This unique gathering promises to be an enriching experience for local women, focusing on drought preparedness as a topic of interest.

At the heart of this event is a commitment to equipping women with practical knowledge to adapt and thrive amidst drought conditions. You’ll hear from esteemed speakers such as Katie Doherty, who offer invaluable insights on animal care in extreme heat and low feed availability and on optimising farming techniques during low rainfall. Kylie Jeffery from Rural Adversity Mental Health Program will guide us on maintaining mental health through adversity with skills to nurture ourselves and those around us. And don’t miss a powerful demonstration by Cudgegong RFS who will impart the 7 critical tips for surviving bushfires.

The day kicks off with a heartfelt Welcome to Country by Aleshia Lonsdale, setting a tone of respect and unity. We’ll indulge in a delicious morning tea courtesy of CWA Grattai, followed by a gourmet 2-course lunch provided by Mudgee Catering Co, complemented with a refreshing glass of Rose from McIntosh Estate. We know that socialising with other women is half the fun at these events, so treat yourself to a day of luxury and learn with like-minded women! Amidst these culinary delights, Rebecca Saunders, a renowned serial entrepreneur, will inspire with her motivational session, empowering you to tackle challenges head-on with renewed confidence.

Throughout the event, participants will also delve into topics crucial for sustainable farming practices, with insights from Keshnee Mudaly, Biodynamics Specialist at Lowe Wines on natural soil improvement and water-saving tips for resilient gardens and pastures. This holistic approach aims not only to impart knowledge but to foster connections and partnerships within our community, enhancing women’s skills and well-being.

Supported by the Future Drought Fund through FRRR and a host of local sponsors including Bunnings and Petries Mitre 10, this event underscores our collective commitment to community resilience and support. Tickets are priced at $35 per person, with a discounted rate of $25 available for Watershed Landcare Supporters. Early registration is essential, so don’t miss out on this empowering opportunity.

Watershed Women is dedicated to supporting and mentoring women across diverse backgrounds in our region, from agriculture and horticulture to entrepreneurial ventures and natural resource management.
