Just as quickly as it began, 2022 is almost at a close! We’re looking forward to getting together as a community to celebrate the year of Watershed Landcare activities despite the many challenges thrown our way. You’re invited to celebrate with us! Let’s meet on the 27th of November for a morning tea and our Annual General Meeting. Our end-of-year gatherings are always fun and a great chance to catch up before the holiday break. We’ll be talking about our year’s wins and looking forward to what 2023 may hold. We welcome the community to come along, get involved and see what we’ve achieved.

Why not consider contributing your enthusiasm, passion and perspective as a Watershed Landcare committee member? People always ask what’s involved with joining the committee. In a nutshell, you can attend monthly meetings (a mix of virtual and face-to-face meetings) and keep in the loop with upcoming opportunities and projects. You also get to share your ideas, continue learning, expand your network and, if you wish, be more active within a vast array of exciting projects & workshops.

Long-time Landcarer and former committee member Rosemary Hadaway summed up her experience nicely when she said, “Volunteering with Landcare is a win-win all around. It has allowed me to get involved and learn about my community while contributing and making a difference within that community! And you make great friends along the way – I say go for it!” So don’t be shy; come along to our end-of-year celebration, bring a friend, and consider nominating as a committee member.

As a cherry on top, we’re excited to have Gulgong legend Colin Seis joining us at our AGM to launch his anticipated first book, Custodians of the Grasslands. Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to hear from Col about the book and pick up a signed copy.

This first book from Gulgong farmer Colin Seis conveys to the reader the fascinating story of his early family history, intertwining the events of their lives with the sowing and reaping of the harvests of the land. A disastrous bushfire in the late 1970s left their world in ruins. Picking up the pieces, Colin and his family faced a formidable challenge to rebuild their home, livelihoods and farm ‘Winona’. Against all advice and the wisdom of the times, Colin embarked on an innovative journey to restore the land’s natural function and productivity, leading to the techniques of ‘Pasture Cropping ‘known and practised worldwide today.

We hope to see you there for a lovely morning catchup. We’ll get inspired by Col’sory and reflect on the year as a community. To register for the AGM & Book Launch, go to www.watershedlandcare.com.au/events
