Kandos Skate Park Gets a Splash of Colour!

On Friday 17 April, young people from Kandos and Mudgee came together at Kandos Skate Park to celebrate Youth Week in a hands-on, creative way.

Guided by local artist Jessica Ann Leffley, the group transformed sections of the park with a vibrant new mural inspired by local wildlife and Country. Sleepy koalas, wise goannas and hollow-bearing trees emerged across the concrete, bringing colour, story and a strong sense of place to the space.

The workshop created an opportunity for young people to connect, get creative and contribute something lasting to their community. With all materials supplied, and lunch and music keeping the energy high, the day had a relaxed and welcoming feel under clear autumn skies.

The project was delivered by Mid-Western Regional Council in partnership with Watershed Landcare, with generous support from Colormaker Industries, who donated the high-quality Permacrylik paints used in the mural.

It was a great example of what can happen when creativity, community and collaboration come together, leaving behind not just a refreshed space, but a sense of pride and ownership for the young people involved.
