On Sunday, 24th November, Watershed Landcare celebrated a fantastic year by hosting its Annual General Meeting alongside the Local Landcare Awards. This special event recognised the exceptional contributions of individuals whose dedication has strengthened our community and improved our landscapes. Congratulations to the awardees!

Hunter White was honoured for his unwavering commitment as treasurer over many years. His leadership and guidance have been instrumental in shaping the organisation’s direction. Beyond the local level, Hunter has been a strong advocate for Landcare, representing the region through state committees and advisory roles.

McKenzie Redfern was recognised for her ability to build partnerships, particularly between Watershed Landcare, Local Land Services (LLS), and Mid-Western Regional Council. Alongside her colleagues Michaela and Amber, McKenzie has been a key player in delivering impactful projects, spearheading initiatives such as the Putta Bucca Wetlands transformations, koala protection programs, and the Riparian Management Field Day. Always willing to contribute, McKenzie brings enthusiasm and reliability to everything she does.

Colin Seis received an award for his world-renowned work in Pasture Cropping, which has revolutionised regenerative farming practices. As an advocate for soil and ecosystem health, Colin’s generosity in sharing knowledge has been invaluable to local farmers. His recent book, Custodians of the Grasslands, encapsulates his commitment to innovation in agriculture and inspiring others to care for the land.

Mike and Sue Pridmore were celebrated for decades of dedication to protecting wildlife and landscapes. Their work at Breakfast Creek and Fern Tree Gully is a testament to their passion for conservation. Through projects like the Badger Ground and Fern Tree Gully initiatives, they have created lasting legacies for biodiversity.

Michael & Cheryl Nielsen receive recognition at the Local Landcare Awards, presented by Anne Sedgers the Chair of Watershed Landcare.

Michael and Cheryl Nielsen were recognised for their tireless efforts to foster community connections and share knowledge. As advocates of holistic management, they have supported successful courses and groups in the region. Their ability to bridge environmental, artistic, and social sectors has enriched the community, creating opportunities for collaboration and learning.

Christine McRae and Wendy Arnott received special recognition for their volunteer efforts at the Watershed Landcare Nursery. Their dedication has made the nursery an outstanding source of local native plants that contribute to greening the region, enhancing biodiversity, and improving the health of landscapes and people.

As we wrap up the year, Watershed Landcare extends heartfelt thanks to our committee, volunteers, members, event attendees, project managers, coordinators, nursery shoppers, partners, groups, and sponsors. Your support has been the backbone of our achievements in 2024. Here’s to another year of making a positive difference!
